Archie T. Lane, Jr.

Archie T. Lane, Jr., 82, of 2254 Center Hill Highway, Hertford, NC, died Friday, November 9, 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mr. Lane was born in Perquimans County and was the son of the late Archie T., Sr. and Sallie McNider Lane A retired farmer, he was a member of Hertford United Methodist Church and had served in the North Carolina National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dale Spry Lane. Surviving are his daughters, Patricia Lane Creighton and husband Jon of Asheville, Terry Lane Saunders and husband Bobby of Elizabeth City, and Sallie Jean Lane of Hertford; his son, Archie T. "Art" Lane, III of Hertford; four grandchildren, Justin Copeland and wife Winter, Lane Saunders Byrd and husband Kyle, Archie Travis Lane, IV, and Ian Gralton and friend Jaime; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Justin Copeland and Parker Elliott Byrd. Services will be private. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
