Helen Mae White Murray

Helen Mae White Murray, 89, of 219 North Front Street, Hertford, NC, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 in her home. Mrs. Murray was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Robert Anderson and Martha Ann Barber White. A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Nursing, she devoted most of her life to being a mother and homemaker. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and had been a longtime volunteer with the Albemarle Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frederick Murray; her son, Fred Murray; her sister, Bernice Glover Jessup; and her brother, Bobby White. Surviving are her daughter, Betty Murray Gaines of Yorktown, VA; her son, Brant Murray and wife Bobbie of Nags Head; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Murray of Manteo; her brother, W. A. "Billy" White of Hertford; and five grandchildren, Megan Murray, Ashley Gaines, Lindsey Gaines, Claire Murray, and Charles Murray. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Hertford United Methodist Church by The Rev. John H. Bonner, III and The Rev. H. Gene Boyce. A private inurnment will be held at a later time in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the parish hall of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church immediately following the memorial service on Sunday, and all other times at the residence.
