Penelope Phelps Casper

Penelope Phelps Casper, 77, formerly of Virginia Beach, VA, and the Cape Colony community of Chowan County, NC, and more recently of Lynchburg, SC, died Saturday, December 1, 2012. Mrs. Casper was born in Bertie County and was the daughter of the late William S. and Florence Ward Britt Phelps. A retired secretary/bookkeeper with her husband's business, Casper's Auto Repair, she was a member of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church and had attended Kempsville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Lewis Casper. Surviving are her daughter, O'Neal Cassidy and husband Larry of Lynchburg; two sons, Waymon L. Casper of Virginia Beach and Linwood S. Casper and wife Ruby of Williamston; six grandchildren, Lori, Becky, Jenny, Dustin, Tina, and Ashley; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
