Early Edward Jordan, 90, of 141 Dallie White Road, Tyner, NC, and formerly of Hampton, VA, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Hertford. Mr. Jordan was born in Chowan County. A retired supervisor/welder from Norfolk Naval Station and Langley Air Force Base, he was a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church in Tyner, had been a member of Army and Navy Masonic Lodge #306, AF & AM for over 52 years, and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 66 years, Lucille Freeman Jordan; sisters, Maude Jordan White, Gladys Jordan White, and Edna Mae Jordan White Ford, and by his brother, J.W. Jordan. Surviving are his daughter, Earline Jordan Martin of Peabody, MA; his granddaughter, Tracey Martin Black and husband David of West Nottingham, NH; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sandra, and Cameron Black; his brothers, Paul Jordan and wife Gertrude of Hampton and Raymond Jordan and wife Patricia of Stafford, VA; his special friend and companion, Blanche Davidson of Tyner; and several nieces and nephews and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr. Burial with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will be at 2:30 p.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, VA. Friends may join the family at the residence.
