Linda Saunders Winslow

Linda Love Saunders "Lovie" Winslow, 98, of 327 Turnpike Road, Belvidere, NC, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in W.R. Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Winslow was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Gideon J., Sr. and Mafra Winslow Saunders. A homemaker, she had also been employed as a lunchroom worker with Perquimans Central Grammar School for 18 years. She was the oldest attending member of Up River Friends Meeting. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Winslow, a sister, Mildren Saunders, and a brother, Gideon J. Saunders, Jr. Surviving are her sister, Eura Saunders Hall; two nieces, Linda Hall and Judy Hall Jones and husband David, all of Elizabeth City; two nephews, Larry Stallings and wife Barbara and Arnold Winslow and wife Nancy, both of Belvidere; an honorary niece, Martha Rush of Elizabeth City; three great-nieces, Stacie Jones-Hutto and husband Travis and their two children, Tyler and Trevor, Wendy Lewis and husband Jim and their five children, Jay, Cody, Judah, Gunner, and Jordan, Kristie Harris and husband Kevin and their two children, Kara and Kendall; and a great-nephew, Christopher David Hall "C.J." Jones and wife Nann and their three children, Johnathan, Katie and Christopher. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Up River Friends Meeting by the Revs. Richard Wilcox and Jim Lewis. Burial will follow in Up River Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and other times at the home of her niece, Judy Jones, 1497 Northside Road, Elizabeth City, any day between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Flowers are welcomed and appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Up River Friends Meeting Building Fund, 523 Up River Road, Belvidere, NC 27919.
