Wilbert Lee Harris, 89, of 1653 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Mr. Harris was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late William Thomas and Ella Frances Belch Harris. A retired supervisor from Edenton Cotton Mill, he was a member of First Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Lois Williams Harris, and by a son, Bennie Lee Harris. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Wilson Harris; three daughters, Barbara White Clark and husband Dale of Manns Harbor, Dorothy Celeste Lewis and husband Jerry of Kinston, and Beverly Harris Umphlett and husband Danny of Elizabeth City; two sons, Terry King (A.D. White) and wife Mary of Knotts Island and Calvin Lee White and wife Brenda of Chocowinity; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by Pastor Dale Clark and the Rev. Bill Clark. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the home of Herbert and Mary Wilson, 1709 Virginia Road, Edenton.
