Jimmie David Flowers

Jimmie David "J.D." Flowers, 92, of 252 Flowers Lane, Cofield, NC, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in his home. Mr. Flowers was born in Wilson County and was the youngest of 10 children born to the late David Dortch and Kate Burnette Flowers. A retired farmer, he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and had served on the Hertford County Board of Commissioners. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Joyce Southerland Flowers; two daughters, Judith White and husband Charles of Clemson, SC and Cindy Askew and husband Mike of Gates; five sons, David Scott Flowers and wife Pam of Murfreesboro, Jimmie Flowers and wife Kathy of Woodville, AL, Steven Flowers and wife Cathy of Annandale, VA, Frank Jones and wife Maria of Winton and Mark Jones and wife Kay of Ahoskie; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, by the Revs. Mike Askew and Lee Edwards. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service and all other times at the residence.
