Linwood Earl Britton, 77, of 544 Yeopim Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 in his home. Mr. Britton was born in Martin County and was the son of the late Samuel Arthur and Buena Wright Britton. A retired representative with North Carolina Blue Cross and Blue Shield, he was a member of Countryside Church of Christ, a former member of the Edenton Lions Club and the Edenton Jaycees, and had served in the National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Burns. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Webb Britton; a daughter, Julie Britton Brickhouse and husband David of Columbia; two sons, Paul Britton and wife Terri Lynne and Mark Britton and wife Alice, all of Edenton; two sisters, Hilda Phillips of DuBois, PA and Dorothy Quain of Knightdale; four granddaughters, Shelli, Elizabeth, Allison, and Lindsey; and four great-grandchildren, Finn, Margot, Parker, and Clarke. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Reggie Webb. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the residence.
