Wilbur Eugene Butt

Wilbur Eugene Butt, 80, of 161 Ditch Bank Road, Shawboro, NC, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in Cedar Manor Assisted Living, Chesapeake, VA. Mr. Butt was the son of the late Joe Frank and Sarah Viola McPherson Butt. A retired barge captain with Exxon after 41 years of employment, he was a member of New Lebanon Masonic Lodge #314, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and a charter member and former president of the East Ridge Hunt Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Seaton Butt; three sisters and four brothers. Surviving are two daughters, Robin Denise Brown and husband Walter, Jr. of Hobbsville and Donna Lynn Lam and husband Cody of Gloucester, VA; three brothers, John Butt of Chesapeake, Elmer Butt of South Mills, and James Butt of Miami, FL; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Masonic graveside service will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the McPherson Family Cemetery in South Mills. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and all other times at the home of Robin and Walter, 075 Zion Road, Hobbsville.
