Lois Evans White, 88, of 1471 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. White was born in Americus, GA, and was the daughter of the late Foy Solly, Sr., and Daisy Snyder Evans. A retired elementary school teacher, she had taught in the Sumter County, GA, and Perquimans County and Edgecombe County, NC, school systems. A member of Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth City, she had attended Piney Woods Friends Meeting in Belvidere and was a charter member of the Perquimans County Restoration Association. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Harold L. White, and by a brother, Foy S. Evans, Jr. Surviving are her children, Geneva W. Britt of Raleigh and Charles Harold ("Chuck") White of Belvidere; her sister, Gloria Evans Sutherland of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Laura Britt Kay of Linton, England, and William W. Britt of Dodge City, KS; and a great-grandson, Michael William Britt, also of Dodge City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Piney Wood Friends Meeting by the Rev. William Byrum. Burial will follow in the White-Nicholson-Riddick Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family the hour before services in the social hall of the meeting house.
