Edith Bond Nixon, 90, of 202 Robin Lane, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Nixon was born in Chowan County, and was the daughter of the late Millard F., Sr. and Hettie Hudgins Bond. A retired field representative with the American Heart Association, she was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, had served on its Altar Guild, and had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Edenton Woman's Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Lee Nixon, Sr., and by her son, Elwood Lee Nixon, Jr. Surviving are her daughter, Peggy Nixon Brooks of Raleigh; her daughter-in-law, Ann Webb Nixon of Roanoke, VA; her sister, Doris Bond Smith of Chesapeake, VA; her brother, James M. Bond of Edenton; four grandchildren, William D. Brooks, IV and wife Muneeba, Elwood Lee Nixon, III and wife Robin, Robin Nixon Carpenter and husband Tim, and William Dwight Nixon and wife Olga; and three great-grandchildren, Kendall Ryland Nixon, Elwood Lee Nixon, IV, and Ella Caroline Carpenter. A private graveside service will be held Monday in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, and will be followed by memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Both services will be officiated by the Rev. Thomas M. Rickenbaker. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is handling arrangements.
