Mary Byrum Lassiter

Mary Byrum Lassiter, 87, of Edenton, NC, died Monday, February 18, 2013 in Colony Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nags Head, NC. Mrs. Lassiter was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Harold Scott and Bertie Ward Byrum. A retired scale operator from Seabrook Blanching Corporation, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of the Edward G. Bond Post #40, Cape Colony Church of Christ and more recently of Manteo Faith Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lassiter; a daughter, Janet Small Mizzelle; and daughter-in-law, Frances Small. Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth Small Swindell and husband Billy of Nags Head; a son, Everett Bonner Small of Jackson; a sister, Joyce Howell of Sacramento, CA; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ by the Revs. Thomas Biggs and Billy Dennis. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
