Lessie Stallings Riddick

Lessie Stallings Riddick, 88, of 115 Hickory Cross Road, Belvidere, NC, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Riddick was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late James Elvin, Sr. and Cora Riddick Stallings. A homemaker, she was a member of Up River Friends Meeting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline S. Stallings, and by a brother, James Elvin Stallings, Jr. Surviving are her husband, J. Quincy Riddick; two sons, Philip McCoy Riddick and wife LuAnn of Belvidere, and James Robert "Jimmy" Riddick of Hertford; two sisters, Doris S. Ferrier of Newport News, VA and Frances S. Layden of Camden; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held on Mr. and Mrs. Riddick's 68th wedding anniversary, Wednesday, March 20th, at 11:00 a.m. in Up River Friends Meeting by Pastor Richard Wilcox. Burial will follow in the Riddick Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at the residence.
