Marie Twiddy Alexander

Marie Twiddy "Reese" Alexander, 88, of 313B East Queen Street, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Alexander was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Ashley Twiddy. A retired spinner from Edenton Cotton Mill, she enjoyed working in her home, reading, and quilting, and was a member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley "J.W." Alexander; sisters, Emma Whitman and Ruth Wright; a brother, Curtis Twiddy; sons-in-law, Tony Hare and Willard "Buddy" Keyes; and by a daughter-in-law, Pat Alexander. Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Alexander Hare of Winterville and Bonnie Alexander Keyes of Edenton; a son, John Wesley Alexander, Jr. of Edenton; five grandchildren, John Wesley Alexander, III of Noble, Oklahoma, Sherry Hodges of Wilson, Stacey Jorge and Diana Phillips, both of Winterville, and Karen Davis of Edenton; and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Davenport. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is handling arrangements.
