Audrey Copeland Ayscue Morton, 84, of Skinner Road, Hertford, NC, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the home of her daughter on Wynne Fork Road. Mrs. Morton was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Arthur Minnis and Annie Boyce Copeland. Retired as the assistant to the Director of the Perquimans County Senior Citizens Center, she was also a member of that organization and its Senior Choir, was a faithful member of Burgess Baptist Church and its W.M.U., had delivered with Perquimans Co. Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, and for 28 years was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of The Gideons International. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph William Ayscue; two infant sisters; brothers, Hugh and Minnis Copeland; a great-grandchild, Cary Weston Noyes; and a step-daughter, Jo Ann Bray. Surviving are her husband, Grover F. Morton, Sr.; a daughter, Audrey Jo Ayscue Holland (Bobby); a son, Donald Craig Ayscue (Debbie), all of Hertford; a sister, Dellie Rae Bass of Edenton; and a brother, Sidney Copeland of Hertford. Also surviving are Grover's children, Rose Knight of Shelby, MI, Grover F. Morton, Jr. (Robin) of Goldsboro, and Sarah Byrum (Roy) of Hertford. Together Grover and Audrey shared 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Burgess Baptist Church by Pastor Bill Thorn. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at the home of her daughter, 905 Wynne Fork Road, Hertford.
