Carrie Crain Lindsey

Carrie Lee Crain Lindsey, 81, of 4179 Caratoke Hwy, Barco, NC, died Friday, March 29, 2013 in Sentara Barco Nursing Center. Mrs. Lindsey was born in Bertha, NC and was the daughter of the late Leon and Lessie Lewis Crain. A homemaker, during her husband's military career she and her family traveled from North Carolina to Galveston, TX, to Biloxi, MS, to Boston, MA, to Beaumont, TX and then to Virginia Beach, VA. She participated in both the Coast Guard Officer's Wives Club and the American Legion Auxiliary, and greatly enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Bonnie L. Houser of Grandy, Judy L. Brickhouse of Orlando, FL, and Linda L. Stewart (Warren) of Currituck; sons, Norman W. Lindsey (Sheila) of Barco and William Lindsey of Rocky Mount; eight grandchildren, Matt Houser of San Diego, CA, Lindsey Jagucki (Ted) of Grandy, Lorie Goodman and Nicki Brickhouse, both of Orlando, FL, Christopher Stewart of Currituck, Holly Goodwin (Steve) of Barco and Norman and Caroline Lindsey of Barco; eight great-grandchildren; and a close family friend, Leo Needham. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service. Afterwards, there will a private inurnment for the family at Laurel Memorial Gardens. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, NC, is assisting the family with arrangements.
