Evelyn Luton Hurdle

Evelyn Louise Luton Hurdle, 91, of 653 Craney Island Road, Belvidere, NC, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Vidant Bertie Hospital, Windsor, NC. Mrs. Hurdle was born in Pasquotank County and was the daughter of the late Ursey Morris and Renia White Luton. A homemaker, she was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Carroll Hurdle; sisters, Lessie Mae, Mildred, Mary Ann, Fuga, Delia, Ruebelle, and Janet, and by a brother, Cecil. Surviving are her husband of over 60 years, Daniel Thomas "D.T." Hurdle; a daughter, Brenda S. Munden of Elizabeth City; three sons, Lennie Fentress and wife Pam of Chesapeake, Donald T. Hurdle and wife Sally of Norfolk, and Robert W. Hurdle and wife Christy of Belvidere; a sister, Gloria Cooper of Elizabeth City; a brother, Charles Luton of Roper; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Roland Cooper. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will assemble at the funeral home prior to services on Saturday. A visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
