Vera McCotter Blanchard Hollowell

Vera McCotter Blanchard Hollowell, 92, of 879 Sandy Cross Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, in her home. Mrs. Hollowell was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Charlie T. and Agnes Russell McCotter. Retired from the cafeteria of the former Sunbury Elementary School, she was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Blanchard, her sister, Mabel Gregory, and by her brother, Chester McCotter. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Franklin Hollowell; her son, Lennie R. Blanchard (Pat) of Suffolk, VA; and her grandson, Shane L. Blanchard (Julie), and great-grandchildren, Alex and Addison, of Roanoke, VA. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Terry Jones. The family will assemble at the church at 1:30 p.m. in preparation of services. Following the graveside service, friends are invited to join the family in the social hall of the church for a time of fellowship and visitation.
