A. Lee Welsh

A. Lee Welsh, 88, of 228 Cowpen Neck Road, Edenton, NC, died Friday, April 5, 2013 in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation. Mr. Welsh was born in Ridgeley, WV, and was the son of the late Altie Lee, Sr. and Lacy Ann Harrison Welsh. A retired engineer from A.T. & T., he was a 1942 graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland, MD, and later graduated from Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne, IN, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and for 14 years served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack E. Welsh. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Norma Davy Welsh; two daughters, Laura Robillard and husband Steve of Aurora, IL and Carol Provancal and husband Robert of West Chicago, IL; two sons, Ronald Welsh of Melbourne, FL and Roy Welsh of Siler City; six grandchildren, Jessica, Kate, Ashley, Ryan, Dakota, and Shane; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aiden, and Mason. A gathering for family and friends will be held Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camp Carefree, 275 Carefree Lane, Stokesdale, NC 27357-8415. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
