Louise Banks Barber

Louise Banks Barber, 84, of 434 Swing Gate Road, Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Barber was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Elmer G. and Mabel Saunders Banks. A retired clerk with the Perquimans County Health Department where she was employed for 30 years, she was a faithful member of Hertford United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gaston and Calvin Banks. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Edward Creecy "Eddie" Barber; three nieces, Patricia Calderwood of Hertford, Marjorie Banks of Raleigh, and Susan Banks of Clayton; and a nephew, Gene Banks of Elizabeth City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Hertford United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Bowden. A private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hertford United Methodist Church, 200 Dobbs St., Hertford, NC 27944.
