Rebecca Heflin Reese

Rebecca Heflin Reese, 83, of Waterbrooke of Elizabeth City, 143 Rosedale Drive, died there Thursday, April 11, 2013. A native of Shreveport, LA, she retired from various jobs (waitressing to elder care) and was a former Cub Scout Den Mother while in Louisiana. She was also a loving and devoted mother who sacrificed much to raise her three children alone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by fours sisters and two brothers. Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Chappell (Bill) of Hertford; two sons, David Reese (Darline) of Bossier City, LA, and Michael Reese (Deborah) of Savannah, GA; eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Evangelical Methodist Church of Elizabeth City. Burial will be in Shreveport, LA at a later date. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to any charity that supports Dementia/Alzheimer's research.
