Selma Asbell Chappell

Selma Asbell Chappell, 62, of 201 Woodland Circle, Hertford, NC, died Monday, April 15, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Ms. Chappell was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Archie Ray, Sr. and Annie Laura Byrum Asbell. Employed for many years at Wal-Mart in Elizabeth City, she attended New Hope Christian Fellowship. Surviving are her son, Christopher Lee Chappell of Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Myrtle Bunch and husband Jimmie of Chesapeake, VA, Carolyn Bunch and husband Ray of Edenton, and Linda Larsen of Antioch, IL; a brother, Archie Ray Asbell, Jr. and wife Wanda of Greenville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, by Pastor Greg Brinson. Burial will follow in the Asbell Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the home of her sister, Carolyn Bunch, 344 River Road, Edenton.
