Alvah Roy Wiggins, 69, of 139 Gum Pond Road, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in his home. Mr. Wiggins was a native of Gates County and was the son of Kathleen Mathias Wiggins of Hobbsville and the late Gelon S. Wiggins. Retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 37 years of employment, he was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Judy Bunch Wiggins; three brothers, Donald M. Wiggins and wife Kathy of Nashville, MI, G.S. Wiggins and wife Penny of Hobbsville, and Rickie Wiggins and wife Nell of Gates; his mother-in-law, Maxine B. Bunch of Edenton; his sister-in-law and her husband, Sandra and Billy Roberson, also of Edenton; four nieces; two great-nieces, and a great-nephew. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by Dr. James Horton.
