Leona Hux Umphlett

Leona Hux Umphlett, 92, of Chesapeake, VA, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Sentara Nursing Home. Mrs. Umphlett was born in Halifax County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Claude H. and Laura Fountain Hux. A retired clerk from Smith & Welton Department Store, she was a member of Enfield Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Junie Umphlett. Surviving are her son, Junie L. Umphlett of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Hank Umphlett and wife Vicki of Chesapeake, Scott Umphlett of Jacksonville, FL, Shannon Doughtie and husband Doug of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Heather Hoffler and husband Kurt of Sunbury, NC; five great-grandchildren, Cody Umphlett, Nicole and Taylor Hoffler, and Tyler and Noah Doughtie.
