Glen Galen Bateman, Sr., 71, of Main Street, Winfall, NC, died Friday, April 26, 2013 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Bateman was born in Wytheville, VA and was the son of Martha Edith Pennington Bateman of Crozet, VA, (formerly of Charlottesville) and the late Glen Alfred Moody Bateman. The retired director of building and grounds for Piedmont Community College in Charlottesville, he was a member of the Hertford Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, and had served in the US Army. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy, a sister, Dottie, and by a brother, Donny. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Jean Juanita Rone Bateman; a daughter, Kimbalee; three sons, Allen, Alphonso, and Glen, Jr.; three sisters, Wanda, Kathy, and Brenda; two brothers, Dan and Michael; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall, 224 West Main Street, Winfall, by Brother Maurice Warren.
