Myrtle Minerva Smith

Myrtle Minerva Smith, 95, formerly of Bear Swamp Road, Hertford, NC, and more recently of Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation. Miss Smith was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late George William and Mary Arabelle Mansfield Smith. A homemaker, she was a member of Great Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie S. Harrell, and by brothers, Vernon, Josey, Norman, Charlie, and Williford Smith. Surviving are her sister, Peanie S. Lee of Chesapeake, VA; her brother, William Elmer Smith of Yorktown, VA; a special niece and caregiver, Mary Julia Parrish of Edenton; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3rd, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. David Brooks. Burial will follow on the family plot in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford. Friends may join the family Thursday, May 2nd, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the home of Yates and Mary Julia Parrish, 381 Old Hertford Road, Edenton.
