Irene Bright Moore

Irene Bright Moore, 92, of 922 NC Hwy 37 North, Gates, NC, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Moore was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Isaac Dever, Sr. and Allie Asbell Bright. A homemaker, she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in August, 2012, by her husband of 75 years, Frank Moore, Jr.; and by a daughter, Roxie Moore, a son-in-law, Walter Brown, a sister, Addie Duck, and a brother, I.D. Bright, Jr. Surviving are two daughters, Louise Brown of Hobbsville, and Faye Hollowell and husband Jim of Florence, SC; five sons, Eugene Moore and wife Mavis of Tyner, Gilbert Moore and wife Diana of Gatesville, Edward Moore and wife Alice of Sunbury, Shirley McKay Moore of Chester, VA, and Michael Moore and wife Edith of Sunbury; a sister, Martha Lane of Harrisburg, NC; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Hall. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence or in the church social hall immediately following the funeral service on Sunday.
