Lloyd Gene Reese, 90, of Ashe Street, Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in his home. Mr. Reese was born in Pocatello, ID and was the son of the late Eugene and Loraine Reese. Retired as a master sergeant from the US Air Force after having served for more than 20 years, he was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Following his military service he had been employed with College of The Albemarle for several years and had volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Other interests included photography, skiing, boating, working with ceramics and caring for his animals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Alice Rathburn Reese, and two step-children, Wally Campbell and Janet Partin Moore. Surviving are his three grandchildren, Carol P. Davenport and husband Steven of Edenton, Richard Partin, Jr. of Grandy, and Lloyd A. Partin of Altamonte Springs, FL; three great-grandchildren, Angela M. Davenport and companion Abenamar Cruz of Cary, Janet L. Davenport and companion Ray Davenport of Windsor, and Victoria Partin of Front Royal, VA; a brother, Jack Reese and wife Colleen of Arizona; and three cousins of Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Stanley Nixon. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the home of Carol and Steven Davenport, 217 Country Club Drive, Edenton. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to any chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
