Mary Mortensen Colson

Mary Patricia Mortensen Colson, 42, of 135 Laurel Street, Hertford, NC, died Friday, May 10, 2013 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Colson was born in Westchester County, NY and was the daughter of Clare Boland Mortensen Fox of Davenport, FL and the late Robert Bruce Mortensen. Formerly employed as a clerk with Albemarle Hospital, she had volunteered as a paramedic with both Wilson and Perquimans Counties Rescue Squads. She attended both St. Anne Catholic Church in Edenton and Holy Family Catholic Church in Elizabeth City. In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband of 16 years, Darryl Craig Colson; two daughters, Margaret Lynn Colson and Maura Clare Colson; a brother, John A. Mortensen of Buxton; her step-father, Herbert J. Fox of Davenport; three aunts; an uncle; and several cousins. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne Catholic Parish Hall-Church, Edenton, by the Rev. William L. Pitts. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and other times at the residence.
