Edna Inez Stokely Long, 89, of 301 Sunset Drive, Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Hertford. Mrs. Long was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Murden and Celtic White Stokely. A homemaker, she was a member of Berea Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Edward Long; a granddaughter, Carla Skinner Chappell; a sister, Elizabeth Heath; and four brothers, Jerry, Jim, Ike, and Oscar Stokely. Surviving are her daughter, Celtic Long Skinner and husband Carl; a son, Howard Milton Long and wife Jonetta, all of Hertford; three sisters, Peggy Tepper and husband Jim of Hertford, and Annie Reed Lewis and Louise Swineford, both of Raleigh; a brother, Paul Stokely and wife Edie of Hertford; three granddaughters, Renee Skinner Ziemba, Shannon Long Phillips and husband Bryan, and Natalie Carol Long; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Matt Matthews, Cooper and Tate Phillips, and her special great-granddaughter, Kaci Chappell; and six great-great-grandchildren, Bishop, Lia, and Jalyn Smith, and Deacon, Maddox and Isabella Matthews. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery by the Rev. H. Gene Boyce. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at Celtic and Carl's home, 212 Sunset Drive, Hertford.
