Alice Mae Brinkley Austin

Alice Mae Brinkley Austin, 76, of 92 Hobbs Lane, Corapeake, NC, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in her home. Mrs. Austin was born in Craven County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Henry Brinkley and Ruby Edwards Brinkley Sample. A retired nurse's aid, she had worked in both nursing homes and in the private duty field, in the communities of Belhaven and Morehead City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy W. Piner. Surviving are her husband of nearly 19 years, Jimmie Leroy Austin; three sons, Curtis A. Piner and wife Debra of Pikeville, David L. Piner and wife Angie of Vanceboro, and Bryan L. Piner and wife Terri of New Bern, two step-children, Lisa and Jimmie, Jr.; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and her care-giver and "adopted daughter", Linda Bryant of Eure. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. Burial will follow in the Gatesville Cemetery.
