Alice Jennette Johnson, 90, of Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, and formerly of the Arrowhead community, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Johnson was born in Beaufort County and was the daughter of the late Ivy T., Sr. and Apply Jane Alligood Jennette. Retired from Montgomery Wards in Suffolk, VA, she was a member of Bandon Chapel, its Women's Guild, and the Mended Heart Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Lee Johnson, and by a sister, Onnie Nixon. Surviving are her daughter, Patsy Faircloth and husband Andy of Edenton; her son, Richard Johnson and wife Wanda of Suffolk; two sisters, Jo Ann Asby of Washington, NC and Betty Lou Gardner of Suffolk; two brothers, I.T. Jennette, Jr. of Richmond, VA and Jerry S. Jennette of Washington; five grandchildren, Gretchen Byrum, R.W. Hobbs, Felicia Hobbs, Ricky Johnson, and Amy Legg; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Bob Harrell. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk.
