Richard Blount Davis, 60, of 133 Joppa Road, Belvidere, NC, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Mr. Davis was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Richard B. Davis and Sallie Marie Riddick Howe. Retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Dept. in Aberdeen, MD, he also volunteered with the Bel Air, MD Fire Dept. for 35 years, and had served as its chief. In addition to his love of the fire depts.., he was an avid NASCAR fan and coin collector. Mr. Davis had proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps. Surviving are his wife, Betty Vann Davis; three sons, Richard Davis and wife Kristine, David Davis, and Robert Davis, all of Bel Air; three step-daughters, Mary Hobbs and husband Jonathan of Sunbury, Susan Baker and husband Craig, and Shirley Greene and husband Johnny of Eure; and nine grandchildren, Steven, Kevin, Colin, Kyle, Trent, James, Mary Grace, Jack, and Katie. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, by the Rev. Vickie Woolard. Burial will follow in the Riddick Family Cemetery near Sandy Cross. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the home of Craig and Susan Baker, 1571 Sandy Cross Road, Belvidere.
