Charles William Moritz

Charles William Moritz, 67, of 105 Yeates Lane, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mr. Moritz was born in Kings County, NY and was the son of the late Albert and Helen Mary Haff Moritz. A retired water plant manager from the Water Authority of Western Nassau County, NY, he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Dorrain Ludwigsen Moritz; two daughters, Jessica Lynn Ross and husband Adam of East Islip, NY and Erica Damon and husband Denim of Ridge, NY; two sisters, Susie Moritz of East Islip and Barbara Rodriguez of Florida; two brothers, Albert Moritz of Islip Terrace, NY and George Moritz of Patchogue, NY; a sister-in-law, Nancy Duquette of Hertford; two brothers-in-law, Carl Ludwigsen, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA and Jeffrey Ludwigsen of Ayden; two grandchildren, Denim Charles Damon and Lucas Kurt Damon; canines, Blue and Moon; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering for family and friends will be held Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.
