Mary Frances Winslow Cobb

Mary Frances Winslow Cobb, 77, of 106 E. Academy Street, Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Cobb was born in Perquimans County on June 29, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Cecil Calvert and Lucille Brothers Winslow. She had retired after more than 30 years of service with the North Carolina Department of Transportation Equipment Unit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Burl "Len" Cobb, III; her son-in-law, Richard Trim "Dicky" Umphlett; and a granddaughter, Melissa Sue Umphlett. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Leonard Burl "L.B." Cobb, Jr.; her daughter, Teresa "Terry" Cobb Umphlett of Hertford; her granddaughter, Shelly Cobb Bembridge and husband Steven of Edenton; her grandson, William Bradley "Brad" Cobb of Hobbsville; and three great-granddaughters, Erin Elizabeth, Megan Marie, and Reagan Rene` Bembridge. Other survivors include her sister, Marjorie W. Hoskins and husband Richard of Everetts; and a brother, Cecil Edward Winslow and wife Elva Rae of Hertford. The family will hold private funeral services at a later date. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hertford United Methodist Church, 200 Dobbs Street, Hertford, NC 27944.
