Percy Edison Bass

Percy Edison Bass, 92, of 1634 Rocky Hock Landing Road, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation. Mr. Bass was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Quinton Trotman and Bessie Virginia Pierce Bass. A retired farmer and commercial fisherman, he was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth and Elsie Bass, Edith White, Dorothy Chappell, and Hattie Ruth Owens; by brothers, Warner, Graham, and Marcus Bass; and by infant brother and an infant daughter. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth Riddick Bass; two sons, Don Bass and wife Joyce, and Bradley Bass and wife Wendy, all of Edenton; and four grandchildren, Kim, Samantha, Joshua, and Isaac Bass. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in the family cemetery near the church. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
