Alice Nixon

Alice A. Nixon, 68, of 1104 Haughton Road, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Nixon was born in Bertie County and was the daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas, Sr. and Jessie Allene Byrum Belch. Employed for many years with the Edenton Cotton Mill, she later retired from M.G. Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ann Silverthorne, and a sister, Geraldine Smith. Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Wade Thomas Nixon; a daughter, Barbara Ann Smith and husband Glen; a son, Bobby Wright, all of Edenton; a step-daughter, Jessica Nixon of Corpus Christi, TX; three sisters, Christine Williams of Merry Hill, Carolyn Ann Beckwith of Wilmington, and Jessie Gail Hoggard of Windsor; five brothers, Vernon Bunting of Wilmington, Lloyd Belch, Jr. of Edenton, Arnold Belch of Sanford, James Earl Belch of Edenton, and Randy Lee Sawyer of Windsor; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by Pastor Steve Mizell. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and all other times at the home of Chris Brabble, 106 Center Hill Road, Tyner.
