Rosalind Tarkington Mitzke

Rosalind Tarkington Mitzke, 86, of 1713 West Queen Street, Edenton, NC, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Mitzke was born in Washington County and was the daughter of the late Clyde Thomas and Narcissus Alice Phelps Tarkington. A homemaker, she was a member of Countryside Church of Christ and the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Mitzke; a daughter, Glenda K. Belch; a son, Thomas B. Mitzke; a sister, Ruth T. Chesson; and a brother, Robert M. Tarkington. Surviving are her son, John L. Mitzke and wife Patricia of Edenton; four brothers, Samuel B. Tarkington, Roy E. Tarkington, Carl B. Tarkington, and Albert B. Tarkington, all of Creswell; five grandchildren, Teresa Rea, Chris Belch, Dawn Farmer, Brooke Mitzke and Zach Mitzke; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by Minister Bob Brock. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
