Grace White Swanner, 89, of 224 East Queen Street, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Swanner was born in Bertie County and was the daughter of the late Solomon Perry and Rosa Dunlow White. A retired supervisor from Jimbo's Jumbos, Inc., she was a member of Edenton Baptist Church and the Mary Bethany Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Winslow Swanner. Surviving are two sons, Gary L. Swanner and wife Susie, and Charles P. Swanner and wife Mary, all of Edenton; a brother, William White of Colerain; a sister, Evelyn W. Swanner of Edenton; five grandchildren, Christopher Swanner, Chad Swanner and wife Jennifer, Jessica Baggett and husband Grant, Gina Powell and husband Brandon, and Bonnie Siano and husband Anthony; and eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Joshua, and Madison Powell, Christopher and Matthew Siano, Taylor and Riley Baggett, and Maxton Swanner. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. David Brooks. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
