Brenda Twine Sawyer

Brenda Orlean Twine Sawyer, 67, of 479 White Hat Road, Hertford, NC, died Monday, September 16, 2013 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Sawyer was born in Pasquotank County and was the daughter of the late Milford Ray Twine, Sr. and Phyllis Rae McHorney. A homemaker, she had also been employed as a bus driver with Perquimans County Schools for 14 years, and was a member of Berea Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband of nearly 50 years, William Douglas Sawyer; a daughter, Kimberly Sawyer Cartwright; two sons, Norman Douglas Sawyer and wife Victoria and Faron Levy Sawyer and wife Sarah, all of Hertford; her special step-mother, Llewellyn Sawyer Twine of Elizabeth City; five sisters, Patricia, Judy, Sandra, Linda, and Lisa; three brothers, Milford, Jr., Steve and David; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Berea Church of Christ by Ministers Phil Sutton and Thomas Biggs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements.
