Charles Maddrey Liverman, Sr.

Charles Maddrey Liverman, Sr., 83, of 1003 Indian Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 in his home. Mr. Liverman was born in Hertford County and was the son of the late Benjamin Joseph and Ella Ree Bryant Liverman. First enlisting in the Army, he later retired as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service in the Air Force, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Later, he and his wife, the late Jean Langston Liverman, owned and operated Nell's Florist in Murfreesboro, NC for many years. He first met Jean one night at the Red Apple Restaurant in Murfreesboro where she worked as a "counter girl". The next night he went back to the restaurant and just sat at the counter looking at the girl he had already flipped for. She told him he couldn't just sit there, he had to order something. So he ordered a glass of water and a toothpick. Typical Charles Livermanalways ready with a big smile and a witty remark. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles M. "Chuck" Liverman, Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Toni Liverman McKay of Kill Devil Hills; a son, Benjamin Joseph Liverman, II of Palm Springs, CA; a granddaughter, Heather Liverman Wilson of Phoenix, AZ; and by three great-grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Edenton, NC, assisted the family with arrangements.
