Gloria Umphlett Johnson

Gloria Umphlett Johnson, 67, of 1154 NC Hwy 343 North, South Mills, NC, died Monday, September 23, 2013 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake, VA. Mrs. Johnson was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Santos William and Una Lee Small Umphlett. She had formerly worked as a teacher's assistant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Lockwood Umphlett and Sherwood Umphlett. Surviving are her husband, Charlie Alton Johnson; a son, Michael Alton Johnson and wife Lendy of Wake Forest; a sister, Nettie Umphlett of the New Hope section of Perquimans County, and her grand dog, Dixie Lou. In accordance with her wishes, all services will be private. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, assisted the family with arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
