Reta Leggett Shaw, 73, of 751 Macedonia Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Shaw was born in Bertie County and was the daughter of the late Ernest B. and Addie Hoggard Leggett. Employed in the Food Service Dept. at White Oak Elementary School, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, and loved her vegetable garden. Surviving are her husband of 35 years, William Holt Shaw; two daughters, Wanda Braddy of Winston-Salem and Amy Allen and husband Giles of Jacksonville; a son, William Holt Shaw, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Edenton; a step-daughter, Lisa Powell of Edenton; a sister, Faye Calvert of Windsor; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Bob Young. Friends may join the family Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the building fund of Macedonia Baptist Church, 1004 Macedonia Road, Edenton, NC 27932. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
