Ertia Mae Ashley Lane

Ertia Mae Ashley Lane, 88, of 242 Lowe's Lane, Hertford, NC, died Friday, September 27, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Lane was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late John Francis and Myrtle Williams Ashley. Employed with Don Juan Manufacturing for 17 years, she was a member of Olivet Lakes Pentecostal Holiness Church and had also attended Hertford Pentecostal Church for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erman "T.I." Lane, a sister, Sallie Oneida Ashley, and two brothers, Johnnie Lee Ashley and Robert Ashley. Surviving are her daughter, Terry Anne Lane of Hertford; her son, Erman Jadie "E.J." Lane and wife Carol of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Thelma Louise Lane of Tyner and Myrtle Edith Overton of Greenville; two brothers, James Elton Ashley of Windsor, VA and Herman Brice Ashley of Spring Hope; two grandchildren, Carlton Lane and Peggy Greene; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. H. Gene Boyce. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the residence.
