Brenda Julian Williams, 72, of 139 Mic Mac Trail, Hertford, NC, passed from her home on this earth to her heavenly home at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 surrounded by family who loved her deeply. Brenda was a giving person who will most be remembered for her love of God and children. As her daughter, I can tell you she lovingly served God and was a wonderful person with a heart as big as Earth. Anyone who met her was grateful that Mom had entered their lives. We will miss her greatly; a force in our lives has gone. I rest easy knowing that she will not be forgotten by the many she touched with her kindness. We love you Mom. Born in Greensboro, NC on May 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Abbott Julian. Brenda, the wife of a military man for 13 years, lived in Southern California where she raised her beloved children William and Constance and traveled and lived in many places. She later relocated to Snug Harbor, NC and on January 22, 2011, she married Donald Robert Williams, a retired Marine First Sergeant. In Southern California, Brenda worked for Full Gospel Businessman's Fellowship. Upon moving to Hertford Brenda worked as a nanny for her niece's twins which gave her great joy for three years. Later she worked for the National Counsel for Aging in Perquimans County and also as a receptionist and docent at the Newbold-White House. Brenda loved her family very deeply. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, William Shelbert Taylor of Las Vegas, NV and Constance Anne Askew of Chesapeake, VA; two step-daughters, Miriam Williams Slantis (James) and Susan Devers (James); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sylvia Markham (James) and Dolores J. Davenport whose husband, David C. Davenport, passed into heaven, one day before, on September 27, 2013. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Reverend Scott Mayo. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and other times at the home of her sister, Dolores Davenport, 1285 Snug Harbor Road, Hertford.
