James Edward Byrum, Sr.

James Edward "Jimmy" Byrum, Sr., 75, of 1341 Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, October 3, 2013 in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation. Mr. Byrum was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late James Andrew and Marie Ashley Byrum. A retired auto body repairman, he had served in the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Garrett Byrum, and by a son, James Edward "Big Bird" Byrum, Jr. Surviving are two daughters, Pam Skinner and husband Dean of Edenton and Fay Fender of Suffolk, VA; a son, David Byrum and wife Vicki of Winton; four brothers, Richard Byrum, Herbert Byrum, Roy Byrum, and Bobby Gene Byrum, all of Tyner; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, assisted the family with arrangements.
