Eva Cobb Hughes

Eva Cobb Hughes, 83, of 104 Crestwood Lane, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Hughes was born in Bertie County and was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Georgie Harden Cobb. A retired secretary/receptionist with Dr. L.E. DeVine's office, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard "Teeny" Hughes; her sister, Jean Williams; and her brother, Marvin Cobb. Surviving are her son, Heath Hughes of Windsor, and his fiancé, Judy Ober of Edenton; her sister, Dorothy Laraway of Greenwood, IN; her brother, Braxton Cobb of Merry Hill; and her grandchildren Elizabeth and Hayley Hughes. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
