Thomas Hanley, 73, passed away at his home in Plymouth, NC, on October 28, 2013. Tom was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Thomas Leo, Sr. and Alice Kasenter Hanley. He served 10 years in the United States Navy and worked for 29 years as a federal employee of NAVSEACENLANT, stationed in Norfolk, VA. After retiring he moved to Plymouth, and enjoyed his love of gardening, woodworking, reading, volunteering, and "rooting for the Redskins". Tom is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Millie Hanley; two daughters, Kelly Graham and husband Brian of Blacksburg, VA and Cindy Ange and husband Troy of Jamesville; a son Michael Hanley and wife Patti of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters, Alice Mihalovich and husband John of Houston, TX and Patricia Schreiber and husband Bradley of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Terry Hanley. A mass of remembrance will be held Saturday, November 2, at 6:00 p.m. in Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Plymouth. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Edenton, NC, is assisting the family with arrangements.
