Carol Simms Travers

Carol Simms Travers, 77, of 129 Athol Lane, Edenton, NC, died Friday, November 1, 2013 in her home. Mrs. Travers was born in Lorton, VA and was the daughter of the late Percy and Edna Helms Simms. A retired driver with the Fairfax County School System, she was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sheridan Travers, Jr., and by her son, Frank S. Travers, III. Surviving are her daughter, Mary T. Spruill and husband Fred of Edenton; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Travers of Hertford; two sisters, Anne Pearson and Jeanne Little, both of Virginia; a brother, Willard Simms of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Fred A. Spruill, Jr., Steven Eric Spruill, Stacy Moore, and Frank S. Travers, IV; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, or all other times at Mary and Fred's home, 908 Chambers Ferry Road, both in Edenton.
