Percy Norman Roberson, 69, of 1147 Four Forks Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 in his home. Mr. Roberson was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Alphonso and Mary Byrum Roberson. A Vietnam veteran, he had served as a crew chief in the United States Air Force for 22 years, and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. Later he retired from both civil service at the United States Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City and from AAR in Moyock and had also managed the Elizabeth City Regional Airport. Piloting was his life, and he continued to own and operate a plane, flying whenever opportunity allowed. He was a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church in Tyner. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Pam Cox Roberson; a daughter, Debbie Christiansen and husband Mike of Elizabeth City; a son, The Rev. Robert Roberson and wife Colleen of Abilene, TX; two sisters, Kathryn Cartwright and husband Douglas of Camden and Doris Toppin and husband Durwood of Edenton; a brother, Gene Roberson and wife Sheila of Tyner; five grandchildren, Tabitha Roberson, Jason Roberson, Kailey Ripka, Brandon Christiansen, and Lillie Christiansen; and a great-grandchild, Connor Ripka. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1909 West Main Street, Elizabeth City, and will be officiated by his son.
